Who is Shannon?
I’m driven by music and the emotion that it portrays - not by ego. The sense of beauty in music is what motivates me to explore my craft.
From a young age, Shannon was always playing on the piano or belting out Kate Bush and Disney songs. By the age of 15, she placed in vocal competitions throughout the United States and soon made opera her main focus, eventually graduating with a degree in vocal performance from Kansas State University. Her voice has been described as “poignant, and hauntingly beautiful”. Most recently, she performed as Laura in the West Coast premiere of Dargomyzhsky’s The Stone Guest, where a review from The LA Times called her performance “a revelation.”
After years of performing professionally in operas, concerts, and musicals, Shannon broadened her musical horizons after moving to Los Angeles. There, she was welcomed into some of the city’s most sought-after recording studios. She began singing on more pop and soulful jazz tracks, and because of her classical background studios appreciated her unique approach and wanted to implement this into their music. Shannon also dove into music production, orchestral music, and composition, collaborating with several sample library companies to create demos. In between performing live or studio sessions, she found herself composing background music or sync music across various projects. Shannon’s composing style is often cinematic-leaning, but also draws heavily from electronic music and meditative influences. With her newfound love for production world, Shannon now feels most at home in various recording studios throughout the Los Angeles area.
Currently Shannon is a co-owner of a Music Production and Recording studio with her husband, Brandon Wilkins (Musician and Music Producer). Here she is able to collaborate with fellow artists and help them unleash their full potential of creativity through a holistic approach in music creation. Some reviews have said that Shannon’s approach to her coaching has been, “a refreshing and exciting take on singing” or “I didn’t know singing is supposed to feel this good!”.
When she isn’t creating music or exploring the great outdoors California has to offer, Shannon can also be found covered in paint and in front of a canvas. Some examples of her visual arts can be found on her Instagram (@smooreiam), and soon will be available for purchase.
Whether it be creating music behind the scenes, painting, or hitting the stage and performing in front of a live audience, Shannon has hit her stride in the LA arts scene and doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.
